The Elisabeth Hodgson Kitchen has a long and rich history that started over 49 years ago in 1974.
A passion for cooking and a belief that the correct kitchen tools should be used when baking and cooking was the catalyst for Maureen Elisabeth Hodgson to inspire others to do the same.
While teaching cooking classes to small groups at her home in Johannesburg in the early 1970's, Maureen saw firsthand how having the correct tools helped the learners to prepare their dishes perfectly. She came to the realization that every cook, professional or amateur, would benefit from having a properly equipped kitchen. As there were very few kitchen shops in South Africa in 1974, Maureen started importing kitchen tools, gadgets and cookbooks into South Africa and selling them to her students.
After relocating to Cape Town in 1977, Maureen decided to concentrate on growing her wholesale business, now named The Elisabeth Hodgson Kitchen and her relatively small range of items became much larger and helped establish the company as one of the go-to suppliers for essential kitchen tools in South Africa.
Her son Nicholas joined the business in February 1985 and her husband Keith, joined them full-time in October 1985.
Since 1985 EHK has been located in Newlands, Cape Town and still supplies essential kitchen products countrywide. The personal touch, desire to build relationships and a passion for the products that Maureen held dear remain at the core of our company culture.
Today the business is run by Nicholas’ wife, Catherine together with their 2 daughters Sarah-Jane and Emily. We are a proudly South African 3rd generation family business.
At EHK we value tradition and we are committed to offering the best classic kitchen tools in addition to an ever-growing inventory of new kitchen items as trends and customer needs evolve.
Whether you are a retailer, a start-up, or a cooking school, we aim to offer you the best quality, tried, and tested products backed up by professional service and prompt delivery
